What Sensory Tools Help Adults With Brain Injuries Who Need Oral Input?

Recently, a brain injury clinic contacted us looking for help.
They were supporting a resident who required safe and durable oral sensory input. Existing on-site items were being chewed and pulled, and it was clear that a purpose-designed solution was needed, something strong, appropriate for an adult, and built to withstand consistent use.
This is exactly why we do what we do. We design for real-life sensory needs.
We worked closely to understand what was required. The brief was clear:
Larger than a standard chew
Extremely durable
Suitable for adult use
Safe, hygienic, and long-lasting
So we designed a custom 11-strand silicone necklace, layered for strength, flexible for comfort, and built specifically to meet high sensory demands.
Every strand had a purpose. Every detail mattered.
Why This Matters
Sensory needs don’t disappear with age. In brain injury settings especially, appropriate sensory support can make a meaningful difference — not just for the individual, but for the wider care environment too.
When clinics reach out to us, it’s not just about creating a product. It’s about creating something that genuinely supports quality of life, dignity, and regulation in a safe and considered way.
The Outcome
They’ve since reordered.
For us, that says everything.
Knowing that something we designed is being used, trusted, and relied upon in a brain injury clinic means more than we can put into words. It’s a reminder that thoughtful design and understanding real sensory needs truly matters.
And it’s exactly why we’ll keep creating.
